Okay, so preschool is not the same as military school, but no one was happier than Mom to drop off Alden at his first day of preschool today. I joined a little co-op preschool with 3 other women from church - all of us have little boys, age 3 (or almost). They will go once a week for 2 hours. And once a month I will have all 4 boys. Yeah! Marshelle did a great job today and Alden threw a fit when I told him it was time to go. Which is always the hallmark of a good time, right?
We did take pictures to memorialize the occassion.

The Big Utah Trip
Okay, this is the worst part of not blogging for so long. Now that I'm finally getting around to posting about some older events, I can't remember all the details. And this blog is supposed to be our family journal, so that's kind of important. At least I took a lot of pictures, so I'll try to recreate what I can of this monumental, 2 week trip.
Amazingly the trip up went pretty well. I drove alone with the boys, and they were much better than I anticipated. Thank goodness for DVD players. Even Emmett seemed interested for a minute or two. Once we hit Provo the fun began and we went to a BBQ with the Moores at Salem Lake. The boys had their first canoe ride, which was all of 5 minutes long - but good enough. Emmett cried the whole way because he didn't want me to hold him but I wasn't about to let him down. During that first week we spent time with the Youngs in Orem. Alden loves those boys and would follow anything they did. They jumped on the tramp, rode bikes, and played in the water. All while I tried to keep Emmett out of trouble and enjoy visiting with Lori. We also spent a morning with Shannon, her sister Marcy, and their 5 girls. Very fun, but kind of weird. Considering Shannon and I hadn't seen each other in 9 months, we should have had a lot of catching up to do. But since we talk constantly on the phone - we didn't have any new stuff and we just picked up where we left off. Except I was the one pregnant - and she is super skinny now. I love her newest, Lucy, whom we had never met. Emmett was quite taken with her too - as I posted previously, with a very cute picture. Alden and Callie get along much better now that they're a little bit older, and their boy/girl differences are much clearer now.
After a favorite (Tara's) El Azteca lunch on Saturday, and a not too eventful sacarament meeting, we spent Sunday afternoon and dinner with Marcy, Shannon, & families. Aren't we so cute, all paired up! I swear Shannon & I are not holding hands.

And now the sad news
Aaron was in Chicago this last week so up took the boys up to the mountains, and of course we always take our Brittney dog. Poor Brittney has been getting older I guess, and has been having seizures the last 6 or 8 months. And I guess it was finally her time to go. She passed away lying peacefully in the grass on Thursday, August 9th. Poor us, we miss her terribly! Luckily the boys are too young to be devastated, but I know they will miss her a lot - Alden has been saying everyday, "I miss Bee-bee so much!" We all do. Emmett loved Brittney too - and she was the most gentle, patient dog. Even when Emmy pulls her ears, pokes her eyes, and bites her paws, Brittney hardly made a sound. As you can tell from the pictures, she has been Alden's buddy since he was born. Can a boy grow up without a dog?

The Big News
Drumroll please.... the Johnsons are moving to Utah!
Okay, we have news of our own - we are expecting another baby! And I am totally using the excuse of being pregnant to cover my complete lack of blogging for the past month and a half. Even though I've technically felt fine, just so stinkin' tired all the time. So of course, I was sleeping instead of blogging. Anyway - I just passed my 13 week point (3 months), which means I am officially in my 2nd trimester. And Aaron can't stop me from telling everyone now. My due date is Feb. 8th. I'll be anxiously awaiting everyone's congratulatory comments, you know, if anyone checks this blog anymore.

MMSM - Kiddisms
Man, I have a lot of catching up to do. But I am badgered into participating in Shannon's MMSM carnival. And when I say badgered, I mean willingly and excitedly contributing because I love Shannon and love to talk about my kids. And both of those things are 100% true.
Alden learned how to pedal his tricycle shortly before our 2 week trip to Utah in July and rode his friend Ella's trike in the Provo kids parade. Somehow he lasted almost 2 miles, and he had his tongue out like this the whole time. I swear. We have like 6 pictures. He also wore his hat and sunglasses the whole time, which is a first. Takes lots of concentration, that trike pedaling.
Emmett is a monkey and can now climb onto the kitchen chairs and table, his brother's bed, and the couches. So basically nothing is safe anymore. Not much talking still - but lots of grinning with those cute teeth of his, and he manages to communicate the important stuff, like when he wants food or water, and to shake his head vigorously when he doesn't want something. I can't believe how big he's getting, must be having a growth spurt. Here he is with his new found, and bound to be lifelong, friend - Lucy Johnson. Se how she's pushing him away, what a tease!
Wish I could brag about Alden being potty trained, but we'll have to wait a few more months for that I guess. He does sing the alphabet very well, and always obliges Mom and sings it in his "funny voice" after the normal version. I totally need to record it - so stinkin' funny.
More catching up to come, in the form of bragging and posting of vacation pics, etc.
